My name is Haley Kester. I was born in Joplin Missouri in 1993 to two amazing parents and the best big sister anyone could ask for. I was raised in Carthage Missouri. I have lived there most of my life up until 2015, when I moved to Joplin Missouri with the love of my life, Mickey. My family means the world to me. We have always been extremely close. I look up to each of them in a very different and special way. God has always been the center of our family. I couldn’t have gotten to where I am today without them.

So here goes my long story, short. Ever since I was a little girl my mom loved to do my hair. That’s something we enjoyed doing together every morning. I would sit at her vanity and she would ask me what style I wanted my hair to be that day. To me my mom could do anything and she did it perfectly. She always gave me exactly what I wanted and made me feel so beautiful. We had this routine even when I was in high school. Not only did my mom make me feel beautiful, but she ALWAYS listened to me. We talked and I would tell her all about the things going on in my life. It wasn’t until those moments when I realized I wanted to do this very same thing for other people just like me. I wanted to make people feel beautiful, just how God made them. I wanted people to feel heard, even if it was just for an hour that they were in my chair. I wanted people to feel special. I graduated Carthage High School in 2011. I went straight to City Pointe Beauty Academy and graduated in 2012. I went in to work at a beautiful salon in Joplin Missouri and worked there for about three years. I then decided to move on and work for myself at a booth rent salon in 2015. I had it all together. I had an amazingly loving and hard working boyfriend, Mickey. I had a beautiful baby boy, Silas Dade on the way. My life was absolutely perfect. I was girlfriend to the best guy, a Momma to be, and my own boss. Little did I know, God had different plans for Mickey and I. At twenty-eight weeks pregnant on April 19th, 2016 we delivered Silas Dade Cortez sleeping peacefully onto this Earth. He was beautiful and looked just like his daddy. At that moment I knew I did not have control of my plans. God did. I simply “Let Go and Let God.”

Fast forward 5 months. I had prayed everyday and night that God would show me a sign or something letting me know exactly what to do with my life. I was lost and confused. I was in the dark and didn’t know where to go. I knew I wanted to do hair, but I didn’t just want to do hair everyday. I needed a purpose. Well, God answered. He put Jade and Taylor in my path. We sat down for Coffee at of course, Mother Road in Carthage. They told me about the salon they were opening. They said “we are a Christian based salon and our salon verse is “He gives us a crown of beauty for ashes” Isaiah 61:3.” Right then I knew this is where I’m meant to be. I’ve lived by this verse since we lost our baby boy. They proceeded to tell me a percentage of our service sales will go to a special organization each month. Not only do we get to use the talents God has given us through our hands, we get to show others Gods love for them. I knew I was home. I have been with Halo Salon since the day they opened their doors in October of 2016. I work next to my sisters in God doing exactly what we love to do and are so passionate about.

Mickey and I are also welcoming our miracle rainbow baby girl Ezlyn Grace in November 2018! I now know what my purpose is and for that I’m forever grateful, thankful and BLESSED!!
